The Science

What Actually Happens Inside the Chamber?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy combines increased atmospheric pressure with increased oxygen availability. Under pressure, more oxygen can dissolve into blood plasma as well as being carried by haemoglobin.

This increases the amount of oxygen available to tissues. Oxygen is fundamental to cellular energy production and to many oxygen-dependent processes involved in normal tissue maintenance and repair.

HBOT has established medical uses and continues to be studied across a wider range of health, recovery and performance applications. The evidence differs considerably depending on the condition, pressure, protocol and treatment setting.

Inside a ReWell hyperbaric chamber

Increased Pressure

Chamber pressure is increased above normal atmospheric pressure.

More Oxygen Available

Increased pressure allows additional oxygen to dissolve into plasma.

Different Pressures, Different Uses

Chamber type, pressure and intended use all influence how HBOT is approached.

Not All HBOT Is the Same

Chamber Type, Pressure and Guidance All Matter.

HBOT is not one single experience. The chamber, operating pressure, oxygen delivery, intended use and level of guidance can all differ, which is why understanding the setup matters.

01

Chamber Type

Soft-shell and hard-shell chambers operate differently and suit different environments and intended uses.

02

Operating Pressure

ReWell options span different pressure ranges. Higher pressure is not automatically better; appropriateness depends on context.

03

Safety & Training

Appropriate screening, chamber-specific guidance and safe operating procedures are important parts of HBOT use.

04

Your Reason for Using HBOT

Frequency, pressure and access route should be considered in the context of why you're exploring HBOT and your individual circumstances.

The ReWell Approach

ReWell combines chamber access with practical guidance, hyperbaric safety oversight, installation support and ongoing help so clients can better understand the options available to them.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to some of the questions people most often ask before trying HBOT, renting a chamber or considering ownership.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and how does it work?

HBOT uses increased atmospheric pressure together with increased oxygen availability. Under pressure, additional oxygen can dissolve into blood plasma and become available to tissues throughout the body.

Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy safe?

HBOT has an established safety profile when appropriate screening, equipment and procedures are in place, but it is not completely risk-free. Pressure-related ear or sinus discomfort can occur, and some medical conditions, medications or implanted devices require individual assessment. Untreated pneumothorax is an absolute contraindication.

Where can I access ReWell HBOT in Ireland?

ReWell offers clinic sessions in Naas and Dublin, alongside nationwide home chamber rental, delivery, installation and chamber ownership options.

Should I book a session, rent a chamber or consider ownership?

That depends on why you're exploring HBOT, how regularly you expect to use it and whether you want clinic or home access. A clinic session can be a simple first step, while rental can provide more regular home access and ownership may suit longer-term use.

Can I rent a hyperbaric chamber for home use?

Yes. ReWell provides soft-shell and hard-shell rental options. Soft-shell rentals begin from €1,229 including VAT. Hard-shell rentals begin from €1,999 per month and have different rental terms.

What's the difference between soft-shell and hard-shell chambers?

Soft-shell and hard-shell chambers differ in construction, operating pressure, installation requirements and intended use. ReWell can help you understand which type of chamber may be appropriate for the way you intend to use HBOT.

What does ATA mean?

ATA means atmospheres absolute. It is a measure of the total pressure inside the chamber relative to normal atmospheric pressure at sea level.

How many HBOT sessions might I need?

There is no single number that is appropriate for everybody. Session frequency and duration can vary depending on why HBOT is being used, chamber pressure, individual circumstances and the relevant evidence or protocol.
